Ok so the powers to be may boot me after this post. I am not trying to start a bad rumor, but a co-worker has told me that if CC does not sale their business by Friday, then they will close thier doors at close on the 16TH. And re-open on Monday only to liquidate their entire inventory. Again I am not trying to start a bad rumor, but his cousin works there and they advised all the employees of what to expect if this happens. Only time will tell.

i wouldn't be surprised if this is real. there's a circuit city across the highway from me. business got worse than ever since the bankruptcy filing. the chain's prices are still not competitive, and the service still sucks.

Wouldn't doubt it. CC has a long history of crap prices, crap service, crap stores and crap merchandising.

The downside is more job being lost. The upside is liquidation sales on BD's...

Does not surprise me at all. All of the CC stores around me are already closed. I think that I read on this board that CC's plan was to become an online retailer similar to amazon.

Don't count on big savings if the liquidators do move in...anything that can be returned to the wholesaler's will be and anything left will be priced more than it originally was in the hopes that an uneducated consumer will buy thinking he/she is getting a bargain...look at the fiasco of the Linens and Things liquidation sale...they pulled off the original price tags and put their own, some 20-30% higher than the original sell price!

When the two stores in my area when out of business, they had remarkably good deals on BD's. Sure, they were still on the higher end of pricing, but once the 75% off signs went up, it was a free for all to get to the discs.

That chain really turns me off. They haunted me for years to insure a couple of air conditioners I bought before we had central air and then they would not cover a repair when I needed it. Then they overcharged me on a Toshiba laptop (an original with Win 95 which I needed to do my post-grad work), unilaterally changed the terms of the financing agreement on a fridge (which REALLY pissed me off) and then, of course, there was the DIVx (sp) fiasco. I canceled their credit card after the refrigerator battle, which I won. The last thing I bought there was my Panasonic BD35 because they were the only one who had it at the time and that was sold at msrp. Even if they survive I will never shop there again.
