Isn't Sony already losing enough money on PS3's? How will dropping the price help them exactly?

Game sales? Hmmm yes and no.

Well, that would be nice and it also means the price of a refurbished PS3 would come down quite significantly, too -- which is what I would probably purchase. I'm interested in seeing what games in hi-def are like, but I can't say the library of games for the PS3 interests me all that much -- lots of been there done that games and it really is the #1 reason I haven't bothered with the PS3. Then again, the lack of a decent library of games has never justified the over-pricing of the unit, IMO. See kids, when it comes to the PS3, I'm into it for the purpose of it being a game console, I could care less that it plays Brooo-ray or can be used as an "all-in-one" media center. I like games, and to me, that's the #1 reason to even get one . . . but at $400 and games that can be completed in a couple weeks, no thanks.

now this is something that i can really agree with. i don't play online, but everybody and their mothers are crafting the online component first and then the single player campaign as almost an afterthought. tim, i thought you hated sony, why would you get this over a 360

Actually, I highly doubt I'll get one until there is a better quality library of games, and as I said, I'm interested in seeing what hi-def games are like. My curiosity to see what hi-def games are like has nothing to do with how I feel about book-cooking FONY! In fact, I might actually feel satisfied buying at a time when they have to make such a price drop that I know they'll be losing their asses off! Nothing wrong with that.

Tim, I like your current avatar the best. It suits you the best so far. :p

If the PS3's do drop to $299 that would be a nice price for everything it does, including being a bluray player. If you're in it solely for games, stick with the XBOX 360. Just my opinion.

Xbox 360 will also get a lower retail price (across the board), the same time PS3 lowers their retail price. So it's still an uphill battle for Sony. http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/pachter-ps3-at-299-in-april-xbox-360-price-cut-to-follow/?biz=1

The XBOX 360 is all HD and has a massive game library.

What are your favorite genres?
