I've read a few places the Samsung 9 series was pretty close to Plasmas and actually beat the Kuro's in a few tests. I think that's promising for the LCD front at least for me because I don't want a plasma (energy hogs and not good for gaming)

I hate to keep this thread lagging on, but as for the 42 LG70, it gets pretty good reviews by consumers who purchased the tv as well as places like consumer reports and cnet. I mean they are not a+++ reviews, but they are B+ reviews. The only real negative thing about the tv is the sound but I have a pretty good surround sound system so that does not concern me. Other than some people loving the 120Hz and some people loathing the 120Hz, it get's great reviews. So I am pretty excited because this is the first overhaul of my theater room in 3 years. And I am converting the computer room (bought a lap top and ditched the air hockey table) into a gaming room. As soon as I sale my Panasonic 42 inch rear projection TV, I am buying another LCD. This one will be a 32 inch for the gaming room.

It appears that 120 Hz is becoming the norm among top-of-the-line LCDs, with 240 Hz probably common by the end of the year. Whether it does any good in improving picture quality or not remains to be seen, but it makes for great marketing/promotional copy.

My Sony KDL-40XBR6 runs at 120 Hz, and I've never seen any picture lag or motion blur with film-based content (24p) or broadcast television. There were early reports of picture lag during video-game play, but I don't play video games on it. Moreover, the Sony has a special setting for playing video games that presumably overcomes this obstacle. In addition, the Sony XBR has two motion-enhancement adjustments the user can make. There's Cinemotion, which I have set for automatically detecting film-based vs. video-based content, and Motion Enhancer, which I have turned off.

I couldn't ask for a better picture, unless it was the ultra-expensive Pioneer Kuro Elite or the Sony XBR8, both of which are out of my price range at five grand and more.

The Samsung 950 placed 4th behind the Panasonic 850 then the XBR8 and first went too the Pioneer Elite, the Panasonic got best bang for your buck...

Two plasmas and a Sony? No thanks the Samsung is going for $2500 on Amazon (well the 46') I think i'll wait for the 240hz TV's to come out and pick a 950 on the cheap

Well guys this is my final blurb on this thread I started. I hooked my new LG 4270 up last night and all I can say is WOW. Even the wife, who watches most of her tv on her Samsung LCD I bought her a year ago, she said double WOW! The 120Hz is stunning, seriously amazing picture. No blur, no lag just an amazing picture. Standard channels look amazing also. Again thanks for all your input on this matter.
