For all you South Park fans out there some great news. Back when HD DVD was still alive we got the very cool HD version of Good Times With Weapons and not long ago the Imaginationland trilogy aired in HD on TV. But now what we have wished for has come true, no longer individual remastered episodes but entire season sets on Blu-ray!

The complete season 12 will be available on Blu-ray March 10th. These episodes have been remastered in HD not just upconverted. But wait there is more good news! The next day season 13 will begin airing in HD. An wait, yet more good news!!! They have already remastered several previous seasons in HD! Hopefully this means some day soon we may see the entire series on Blu-ray in true HD. Take that Family Guy fans!

I'd love to see Family Guy remastered in HD. But not as much as I'd love to see HD versions of Team America and Orgasmo.

Don't you think south park would loose something in hd? I mean it has always looked kind of crapy and that was like its thing.

SP hasn't had that "crappy" paper cut out stop motion animation for a long time now. They have been using computer animation software for at least 5 seasons, probably more. Now its the best animation on tv.

The pilot was the only episode that was created with actual paper cutouts. All other episodes were created digitally to mimic the look of paper cutouts, however there have been some changes over the years in the software and techniques that they use that has improved the look of the show dramatically.

If you have seen Good Time With Weapons on HD DVD it is quite the improvement over the SD version. It actually helps the simple animation style look great on a large TV because it makes all the 'cutout' lines nice and smooth. The HD version is also re-composed for 16x9. In general most animation I have seen, no matter how simple looks better in HD. The Futurama movies have been good examples of this.
