Quote:Yes, their products are OVERPRICED, but very few people still buy them.

I would not mind their market share.

In Q4 2008 they became the fourth best selling PC brand with 8%. They sold more PCs than brands like Toshiba, Asus and many others. Only topped by Dell, HP and Acer.

Not bad for a company that makes overpriced products.

Spoonie G said,
Quote:75% of the people who own an iPod, likely don't know who Steve Jobs is. Nor do they care.

And probably 100% of that 75% have their ipods connected to PCs.

Henning doesn't ACER own Gateway and Emachines?

Steve Jobs didn't create iPod. It was created by Tony Fadell who now is a personal advisor to Jobs. He is good about creating a design team that thinks ahead of the market. Apple has done a good job of generating revenues through iTunes thereby creating a great business model. Its the innovation and strategy, two attributes contributing to the success of Apple. If the Senior Management team at Apple have a good succession plan to Jobs, then Apple might not be in trouble. However, if they lack cohesive direction on who will be the successor to Jobs, then it is a sign of long-term trouble at Apple. BTW, apple products are over priced and over hyped.

When I was in High School I hated Apple products with a burning Passion. Sure they're great for editing film... but I just couldn't see myself owning a Mac for personal use.

However as I matured I grew fonder. I used to hate the iPod. I now own on. I also have an iPhone. Both are great, reliable products.

The only reason I got the iPod is because my Zune... didn't work... with my Windows PC. Returned it... got my iPod home... and it worked like a damn charm.

Either way... Apples good in my book. I'm still nowhere near the point of buying one of their PC's or Laptops but... who knows...

I work with both. I can assure you the MAC is not worth the "overprice" of admission.

I disagree with Tim here, and fully agree with Henning's statement...

Quote:I changed because of Mac OS X not because of their hardware or leader. I had finally found a replacement for the MS Windows OS that was giving me more and more grief.

I've used both Windows and Mac's OS X, and won't ever go back to bugged-plagued Windows OS (and it's frustrations). Mac users find their units much easier to operate/navigate than Windows. As for Macs being overpriced, once you take a Windows system and add the features + capability of what's in an iMac, you will see that Macs are just a little more higher, but not "overpriced", in my opnion.

Mac's percentage of users/owners continues to grow every quarter, and I don't think the company will "die" should the illness suffered by Steve Jobs take his life.

Just announced:
Quote:Apple Inc.'s fiscal first-quarter net income rose 1.9% on strong iPod sales, and shares jumped 9.8% to $90.92 in after-hours trading as the results topped Wall Street's expectations.

Quote:"Even in these economically challenging times, we are incredibly pleased to report our best quarterly revenue and earnings in Apple history - surpassing $10 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time ever," Mr. Jobs said.

Very impressive.
