Loosely interpreting what Howard Stringer is stressing to the head honcho's of Sony Japan... Is he saying do the SEGA twirl?
It said Chief Executive Howard Stringer was meeting with resistance from some executives to shifting the company's focus to software from hardware and cutting jobs in Japan.

If this is true it definitely sounds like a concession speech. It would make sense if Sony is serious about returning to profitability. And the executives were probably resisting because their jobs would be cut too.

Most every large-size company is making cuts nowadays...

(from today's Houston Chronicle)

Time Warner's Warner Bros. Entertainment movie studio said it is eliminating nearly 800 jobs, or 10 percent of its global work force. The cuts come after the studio posted a 9 percent drop in third-quarter revenue to $2.88 billion, despite the success of the blockbuster, The Dark Knight.

BOSE Corp, known for it's high-end audio equipment, is cutting 1,000 jobs, or about 10 percent of it's work force. It is based in Framingham, Mass.
