Has anyone else noticed the increase in boxed sets for tv shows? Sometimes, there are benefits to this (think "Seinfeld") but other times, a DVD box set is for a series that finished its run less then a year ago (almost all the WB shows, and "24" come to mind). Is this going to continue?!

It will continue for as long as the sets sell.

I"m all for it, classics for us who miss them and the new shows for those too busy to watch, and a test of the market. I think DVD can save some shows from being cancelled due to low Nielecen crime syndicate ratings.

Ok, I realize how far out on a limb I'm going by admitting this, but I honestly would buy the whole series of "Airwolf" if they brought it out in a set. I was addicted to that show as a kid, and could never get enough of it.

OK!! SO I'M A GEEK!! SO WHAT OF IT?!! You wanna piece a me?! :o

I think Columbia House had random episode subscriptions of Airwolf and I know it is out in the U.K. in four volumes with three episodes each, you could import but still a boxset in the US would be nice.

Being that Europe is "region 2", I wouldn't be able to play the "Airwolf" discs on my player. But thanks for the info anyway! Hopefully Columbia House will get a clue, and release it here in the US.

By the way, does anyone know why things like "Airwolf" and "David Hasslehoff" are so big in Europe, when they've pretty much gone by the wayside elsewhere?

You could just get a Phillips DVP642, open the tray, press 7,8,9,ok,0 on your remote and be Region Free on a DVD playerr that converts PAL to NTSC , go to the U.K.'s amazon website and order the DVDs from the U.K. you want like I did with Blake's 7, Tripods, Robin of Sherwood, Dungeouns & dragons, Laurel and Hardy 21 disc boxset, Carry On 18 film boxset, and other stuff.

True, but this would require the purchase of a new DVD player, when I have a perfectly good top end Sony progressive scan player that works just fine. I guess I'm not a big enough fan of Airwolf to warrant buying a new DVD player just to watch it and other region DVD's. ;)

This trend will keep happening for two reasons: 1- the sets are selling faster then DVD ever has; 2- release last season just after it eneded on DVD so the casual fan can then catch up on what they missed before the new season starts OR the fanatic can rewatch all the episodes leading up to the start of the new season.
