Ok, I just caught this movie on Cinemax last night. I have to say, if anyone, and I mean ANYONE, finds this film entertaining needs to have their head examined! "Funny Games", IMO, was utterly sick! John gave it a 2 in his review, and I would have to agree and give it a 1 ! Look, I enjoy fun violence in a film as much as the next guy, but this was beyond choreographed, fun violence, this was plain sick and disgusting in nature, pure and simple! Some of the crap in this movie, I can't believe it was even allowed to be filmed. Look, I'm all for freedom of expression and art, but for the love of God, this film disturbed me so much that I can't believe it was even created. What's even more odd, is the acting was very good and the delivery was acceptable and creepy, but the context of plot and outcome were simply psychotically sick! I don't recommend this film to anyone, unless you're part of the Manson family!

The movie was already headed South, but when that happened, I wanted to throw my couch into the TV screen! And it isn't that I hate the film because it had no redeeming value whatsoever, It was just sickening to me that anyone could find it as entertainment. I mean, for God sake, they brutally murder a child, and IMO, it was just unacceptable. What really sucks is it just premiered on Cinemax last night, so I know they'll show it at least a hundred times in the next two months, which I'd be happy if they never aired it again! In fact, I sent them an email and let them know how distasteful I felt the movie is and that it is also distasteful that they'll be airing it over the next couple months. Being I pay for the service of having the channel, I feel I have every right to let them know how sick I think that film is. Nevertheless, I respect our right to freedom of expression and I'm not leading some crusade to burn books and movies, but every moral vein in my body says this movie is absolutely wrong!

Tim, there are two movies out named Funny Games. One was released in 2007 and the other in 1998. Both are dealing with disturbing indivisuals and situations, which one did you see? NEVERMIND because if you've seen one then you have seen both because the 2007 release is a remake of the 1998 movie and get this, by the same director Michael Haneke.

Yeah, I knew it was a remake by the same director, via John's review.

...infact if you play them side by side you will discover that is a frame by frame remake of the original, down to the last cut.

The point of the film was not to give u a slasher flick with goreporn, but to simply make a comment on how audiences love and are attracted to violence.
Most murders happen in front of a tv that is switched on (at one point the blood splatters on the screen and stays that way for a long time) and that a guy is using a remote to go back and save his friend. All those are comments on how violence is experienced through today's media etc etc...basically if you walked in waiting to see a nice thriller/slasher ride you're probably the wrong type of audience for this movie. (don't mean that in a bad way, don't get me wrong, im not the film's biggest fan either,) but if you knew haneke's work and heard that it's the remake of his original one, you would stay away from it.
