The NEW CUT OFF DATE IS June 12th, 2009. My question is: Based on what?

We will still be in a RECESSION by that date.
The government will still have HIGHER funding priorities, than funding a pair of $40 voucher for each family.
We'll still be looking for jobs, or help family members bunk-in, in the same house where we live- because they lost their job.
The Auto Industry will still be in trouble.
Stocks & consumer nest eggs will still disappear.

Where are they basing this NEW CUT OFF date, as if people will even care by summertime? Why even go through this "voucher" crap on the first place. JUST SELL THE DAMN BOXES FOR $10 and get it over with! No strings attached, no voucher waiting, nor registration. No rebate hassles.

Geez. What a joke.

Completely agreed. The networks and manufacturers have gone out of their way to have PSA's during nearly ever commercial break advertising these converters for the last year. It's news in the papers and online. I don't know what else the government can-or should-do.

If you're not paying attention and you're TV goes dark on the 17th, your fault. No one else's. This is just stupid as far as I'm concerned. It's going to continue to be pushed back and back and back.

Wasn't the first date set back in 2006? I mean come on already. Just do it. There will be those that procrastinate and those who complain no matter when it changes over.

I see people dropping cable and sat. service as budgets continue to strain or ceast to exist entirely. I don't think we will be seeing any type of transition this year, but if we do I feel that all hell will break loose. And thats kind of sad.

You can take my job...and i'll be quiet.
You can rape me at the pump...and i'll be quiet.
You can fight an illegal war...and i'll be quiet.
You can take my home...and i'll be quiet.
You can take my tv...but their will be hell to pay.

Well they can't put it off for ever it will make people that paid for that space pissed off not to mention the costs for continuing analog. TV is not a necessity most of what I what is on disk any way. Its never going to work out perfectly so why not just go and do it now

Really when you look at it, $50 isn't a big deal. That will teach you for running analog cable this long! You should have switched months, if not years ago!

I've been using the over the air local HD channels for over two years now. I soooo love it. However, this stalling the full changeover is pissing me off because not all stations are putting full power to the HD till the analog is done with. I could very well see people that have HD tvs get rid of pay tv. I've done it before and probably will again when my satellite contract ends.

Why does that old lady have Rabbit ears hooked up to a space heater?
