Right now they have a sale at Discoverystore.com for Planet Earth. Most people already have it but I thought this was a sweet deal for those that don't. This is active for today only. The shipping is what they told me for where I live. Might be different for you. The sale price doesn't fully show up until in cart. Try this coupon code if for some reason it isn't reduced EML2009

Only thing is, it's not the David Attenborough narrated version (although at "Discovery"store.com, we couldn't expect the BBC version).

Still a pretty damn fine deal, though.

It is $34.99...so, will this blu-ray include the special features the BBC blu-ray doesn't and the SD DVD does???

EDIT: With the coupon is $29.99...what about it being in 1080i??

Thanks w for the info. I almost jumped on it. I already have it on hd dvd and with the present economy I just couldn't justify buying it again. Trying to cut back on excess since anything could happen. Still a great deal though for an awesome series.

Yes Chem, I know what you mean. I have the HD DVD as well and cant justify buying it again. The HD DVD was in 1080i as well. I have no idea why.

The one thing that sucks about the HD DVD version is that mine all have minor scratches which is what many people found. Took four sets to get one that seems to load ok. I was just wondering if the Blu Ray version would have pristine discs. Planet Earth were the only discs I had trouble with.

Amazon UK is still selling the Attenborough version for a good price, got mine shipped to the US for about $39 total, still not a bad price.

FYI I think the 1080i reflects all the versions, something to do with the cameras they used, still looks fantastic in my LCD!

I purchased Planet Earth from Discoverystore.com a while back. It wasn't this deal, but one that was the lowest I could find at the time. Here's what I noticed:

It did not include the heavy slipcase/box thing that is available in the stores. The Blu-ray case has no bar code on it, so I assume they removed it prior to shipping.

The discs are pristine, no scratches were evident as I inspected them.

It is in 1080i, but the Attenborough ones I saw in the store at Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, etc. were labeled as 1080p. I've even read reviews which differentiated between the "jaggies" evident in the 1080i version, and the wonderful picture on the 1080p one.

The Discovery is supposed to be the 'edited' version...

I have the Atten and Discovery versions. The Discovery version is indeed shortened by about ten minutes each show. Plus the Discovery version has an annoying long beginning to each show.
