Nice! I'd like to see the movies in HD. Knowing Paramount they have done a great job with the conversions. I watched First Contact just the other night on DVD. Yeah, I can be a nerd too...LOL

"They invade our space, and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done."

I love Patrick Stewart and Alfre Woodard in that scene.

"My god, Bones, what have I done?"
"What you had to do. What you always do. Turn death into a fighting chance to live."

I'll one-up anyone's claim on nerd-dom.

TOS S1 is coming to BD, too, a couple weeks before the movies.

First Contact is the best Star Trek movie thus far. Picard rulez! I hope the new one is even better.

What? Sure it's vastly better than Insulting or Nothingness, but Generations still beats it by a long shot, not to mention most of the first 6.

Best Star Trek movie of all time: Wrath Of Khan.

Picard does rock though. Patrick Stewart rocks.

^ Generations better than First Contact? Not likely.

Still partial to Wrath of Khan or Undiscovered Country, personally. Though I do love the music to FC.

First Contact was just an action movie. Generations is a much better movie all around. It was epic. And Shatner/Stewart sharing the screen? Come on.

(( warning this thread is at risk of turning into a trekie war ))

Nah, no war here. I'm a lover, not a fighter.

Kirk and Picard has an appeal, certainly. Seeing the NG cast on the big screen for the first time...definitely appealing. Whoopi Goldberg, Malcolm McDowall...yep, absolutely. It's just a clunky film, IMO, all because Paramount had to have it in theaters for November. Braga and Moore were working on this at the same time they were doing All Good Things at the same time DS9 S3 was getting off the ground at the same time Voyager was going into production. Had the movie been kept for a spring release, the script would have been fine tuned more.

Problems: the destruction of the Enterprise-D wasn't fitting for the flagship Captain Harriman was too much of a buffoon the Picard fantasy grinds the movie to a halt killing Robert and Rene off screen no personality for anyone not named Picard or Data stupid set redesigns and ill-fitting costumes.

I can appreciate it for what it is, just as FC is an action film and I appreciate that. Heck, I've even grown to "like" ST V as much as it makes me want to hurl heavy objects at the screen.

Agreed. As much as NG is a fun film, I thought it felt rushed and clunky, as well. Sorry, but the "old" crew is always where my heart will be when it comes to ST. The NG crew has its moments, but nothing compared to the connections with characters from the older Star Treks. Can't wait to see the new movie this May!
