So, 2010 is coming to Blu-ray on April 7. I'm curious what people thought of this film. Especially those who were big fans of 2001.

Some guy at DVDTOWN reviewed the movie. I don't know if you can trust him, but here it is:

2010 is a good piece of entertainment, while 2001 is a persuasive work of art.

Good quote.

I love this movie. Nowhere near the masterpiece of 2001, but still. I also feel this way about "Return to Oz".

I refuse to watch 2010 not because I don't think it may be a fine movie or even that I am somehow offended by the notion of a follow-up to 2001. I simply don't want _anything_ that provides explanations or in any way defuses the mystery or the power of the ineffable that makes 2001 so great. I haven't read the book for the same reason and never will.

I have not read all the books, but I believe there are mysteries that will always remain.

2061: Odyssey 3

Did the Prequels hurt you real bad too?

You can watch 2010 without it messing with impression or thought of 2001. It doesn't even try to mess with the tone of that movie.

I just think it's in a different level than 2001.

The performances are really good, but it answers too many questions...and makes us want more answers...but in a good way.

I enjoyed 2010...it was my first magic mushroom experience in a theater and when Jupiter did it's thing...OMG

I enjoyed the books 2001, 2010, 2061 and 3001 and the original 2001 movie. I must say, of all the books I have ever read and then seen the movie, 2001 is the one that came the closest.
