Does this mean that current blu ray players can be updated to play 3D or would you have to buy a new player? Also, will TVs have to be made with newer technology or can the typical HDTVs of now handle the stereoscopic signal they would be receiving?

Journey To The Center of the Earth was released in 3-D... or is there a different 3-D we are talking about?

The new and better 3D features in theaters incorporate an attachment on the projector to display the 3D image on the screen. The 3D glasses make the images on the screen appear in 3D. I think the reason that the studios have been reluctant to make the new 3D features because I don't believe the traditional CRT displays can correctly show the better 3D quality to satisfaction. With households becoming more populated than ever with digital televisions, the chances of the new 3D technology becoming accepted and being a success is far more likely than before. There will simply be a higher possibility of success due to the higher number of digital sets used.

Journey to the Center of the Earth was recently released on DVD with the crappy red/blue lensed glasses to watch it in 3D. The theatrical release was shown utilizing the better 3D system, which used glasses similar to traditional polarized sunglasses to allow the viewer to see a much better 3D image without experiencing the color "washout" from the red/blue lenses. The newer 3D technology does not yield the "washout" and allows for truer colors to dominate, making the viewing experience much more enjoyable.

I know! I mean do you remember what a landmark Piranha Part Two: The Spawning was? The special effects were amazing! He actually had me believing that I was seeing cheap rubber piranhas thrown at the actors from off screen.
