Hi you guys, I am sort of new here. I was actually a member about 4 years ago. I just got a PS3 and was looking for the best BluRay movies out there. I promised myself not to re-buy any movies that I already have ( I have over 400 DVD's) But I have to take advantage of the PS3 and new HDTV (Sony W-Series 52" 120hz 1080p)

So any cool films worth buying on Blu-Ray? and I mean "worth" buying :-)

Thanks you guys.

First few that come to mind that I thought were worth buying are Iron Man and I, Robot. Surely almost any Disney Pixar movie... 80)

I have just recently come over to the Blu side (I was an HD DVD supporter!) I tend to collect movies by genere. The first genere I'm working on is comic book movies. I have found that most of the comic book movies are really worth it. They tend to come with a lot of extras and the movies are pretty good too. Except for Ghost Rider. lol

...Hellboy, Iron Man, LOST, Mad Men, Ratatouille...LOST is the only one I don't own, but will when the price is right, for my brother, I still don't care about the characters...

However, all of these look great: any Pixar movie, Speed Racer (awesome), Sleeping Beauty (looks great), The Dark Knight, Shoot 'Em Up (visuals), Hellboy 2, Indiana Jones...

2001 is still the GOLD STANDARD for live-action Blu-ray releases. And those IMAX scenes in The Dark Knight are a thing to admire in full HD.

And oddly enough you know what title I picked up the other day and blew me away with a naturally sharp and very, very clean transfer? Office Space.

The BEST movies on disc in high-def are the ones you already love and think look terrific in standard definition.

Otherwise, it's a question of personal taste about the quality of the movie itself, and then it's a matter of what you consider good picture and sound. If it's only picture and sound you're after, the animated features are number one, things like the Pixar films, and "Madagascar," "Kung-fu Panda," etc.

For picture quality, I still haven't seen anything that surpasses "I, Robot," but not everybody likes the film. For sound, I like "Live Free or Die Hard." ("Shoot em Up" is also good in 7.1, but the movie kinda bored me.) For great picture, sound, and film quality, you can't beat "2001." And Nolan's "Batman" films look and sound good, as do most of the "Potter" films.

Too bad you don't have an HD DVD player, too. You could pick up "Stardust" for five bucks. Great all-around movie, picture, and sound for a song. Maybe wait for it on Blu-ray. (Shill )

I have. "King Kong". On both counts(picture/sound), however not everybody likes the film.

Here are a few MUST BUYS. (For quality of movie, picture and sound)
2001
The Dark Knight
Wall'e
Iron man
Ratatouille
King Kong (watch it as a two parter, or just start on "Skull Island.)
