My brief review of the film: Not even damn close to the 12-issue comics that Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons labored to complete. I still appreciated the effort given that some (or most) of the movie panels, mirrors that of the comic pages. Best of all, keeping the core essence of what the Watchmen mattered most (if you don't know what that is... I BEG U TO READ THE GRAPHIC NOVEL....).
Yes, the adaptation of this Alan Moore Masterpiece was better handled, than the idiot that made League of Extraordinary Men (but I'm sure Sean Connery had a hand in flushing it down the toilet).

Yes, there were a bunch thown in that marveled at its genious. So, I went in expecting nothing more than an overly drawn out boring movie with a complicated plot and no action whatsoever despite the preview showing all sorts of cool eye candy.
I loved it!!!! The story, in my opinnion, was very hard to miss. The characters were all given their fair amount of time and development. The effects were very good, and while the film was not action packed from beginning to end, that is certainly understandable for a 2 hour and 43 minute movie. This is not an "action flic" anyway. It is more than that.
I look forard to a second viewing on what I believe is going to be a beautiful looking Blu-ray. Now, it's a WB title, so I know we won't get an MPEG 2 encode!

I found this film trying to be too many things, a mystery, a crime, a superhero, a sci fi, a satire...and not being able to fully succeed in any. I felt there was too much crammed into it, with no time to breathe.
It starts interesting and engaging, continues that way, then starts losing steam, the storytelling also starts to drop...then the best part starts, when the heroes actually do something...then towards the end it starts to get preachy, predictable and then you lose interest in who 'wins' or loses or what happens. And for me that I haven't read the comic, I found things to be somewhat confusing, adding to that, the ineptitude of Snyder to do good storytelling with flashbacks...I guess LOST will be hard to beat.
A very similar story was done before, you might remember it, from Brad Bird...The Incredibles. I'll stick with Pixar.
I found the look of the movie to be too dark to enjoy, or to care about details.
I will definitely give it another try when it comes out on blu, and I will also buy the book, but after two plus hours of movie, it just wasn't nearly as good as the past hero/superhero movies. Heck, on Monday I saw Hitman, and I enjoyed that more...

Interesting, because by coincidence I was talking to a fellow today who had seen the movie and thought it was a little too graphic for him. He said he figured that's the way movies were going today.
I would remind both mvckalel and him that the live-action "Watchmen" movie is a shortened version of the comic books that first appeared in 1985, almost twenty-five years ago, long before "The Incredibles." And any violence in the new movie is actually toned down from the comic books and graphic novel of long ago.
