SO, is FOX trying to kill the rental chains? I think this sucks. This won't make me want to run out and buy their product. I think this is unfair to the people who can't afford to pay $15.99-$19.99 for a movie. I guess poor people don't get their special features.

Isn't it also less cost effective for the company to make seperate versions of the same disc.

Big Surprise there. They have been doing this for as long as I can remember. No big news. They might actually give collectors something more for their $29 BD purchases...

Yeah this is pretty much the same thing as the single disc edition DVD for the rental stores, and the two disc edition for people to buy with all the extras. I don't really get taking them off the blu rays though since they're already single discs. Unless their theory is that the rental disc will all be 25 gig single layers as opposed to 50 gig duals which will save them money. I just think that having two assembly lines or alternating on one to produce the same movie would be more expensive.
