Thinking back to the format war makes me laugh. I think the only reason why Apples name was in the Blu column, because it opposed what MS was doing with HDi, and HD DVD. I ultimately think once MS may add Blu-Ray support within Windows that we may see Apple then finally lauch their own support. As it stand right now, Blu-Ray drives and software have already been adapted to both OS configurations with third party applications and software. So I guess, this whole argument is kinda silly from a standpoint. People, engineers, techs, studios, and others have made the work arounds work thus far. I really don't think the OS manufactures care to this point.

Yes, it is kind of silly. It isn't like we've never had third-party drivers and applications run on an OS, and in fact, that's one of the main functions of an OS. Windows nor Apple need to be or feel responsible for supporting anything they don't want to. And as long as there are third party vendors to supply the Blu-ray support, there's no point in arguing whether any OS should adopt BD support.

Quote:The same thing goes for internet explorer, apparently there's a possibility win7 won't ship with IE8. I dunno how in hell you will be able to download a browser if ur O/S won't come with one pre-installed

They'll probably have one of their magic wizards to guide you through a download of IE8, which I think is what they're actually supposed to do. I seem to remember a legal dispute many years ago between MS and Netscape and the outcome was that MS could not ship their IE browser with Windows -- it had something to do with fair competition but I can't be too sure, as it was several years ago.

Nevertheless, I like the points you made Coaster.
