I always liked Burton's version of the character. To me, this would be a worthy upgrade to brooooo-ray. Shuck it Trebeck! Shuck it it!

All I can say is FINALLY!!! One of my all time favorite movies. Yes Ledger did deserve the Acadmey Award for his take on The Joker. But Nicholson should have been nominated himself, and yes he should have won also.

So I take it you're not a completist like many of us who buy sucky movies just to have "the complete..."??

I mean, I like Batman 89, and LOVE Batman Returns, dislike Forever, and like B&R for being so bad it's good and entertaining...but I won't have the first two sitting side by side with Begins and TDK...

Yeah, old-time movies like Burton's "Batman" don't always show up too well in Blu. Did they have color and sound back in those days?

Well I do!! Like John, I love it when a classic is restored to its full glory, and Warner has done a great job so far with many of their back catalog "old Hollywood" classics. I anxiously await their coming 6K restoration of the Judy Garland/James Mason masterpiece A STAR IS BORN (as was stated in an early announcement last year). It's one of my favs, a powerful drama with outstanding music to boot.

And it's always a treat to read the film reviews here on DVDTOWN - we have an excellent collection of talented writers!

I figured it was something like that, so I hope you didn't mind my teasing.

But I used to get serious comments from some of my film students at the beginning of each year like "Are we gonna have to watch any really old movies in this class?" or "Do we have to watch any old black-and-white films in here?" I'd usually say something like "Nothing older than maybe 1896, '97." Often, their definition of "old" was anything older than they were.

By the end of the course, they usually didn't even ask about the age of a film anymore. A good movie (and good picture quality with restoration), like good literature, is ageless.

This film deserves a restoration ala 2001, sw, br... Instead it seems that we are getting another high bit dvd.

I truly want to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight.

Skinemax was showing Burton's Batman in hi-def a couple months ago. From what I saw, it certainly looks like it will be well worth it.
