Alright, if you don't know by now (and you're an Alien and or Predator fan), you've had your head stuck in the sand! Aliens Vs. Predator is going to be released in theaters in August of '04!! It's unclear whom had the idea first, but it is rumored that this idea was originally joked with by writers Jim and John Thomas in Predator2, with the Alien skull as a trophy on the wall in the Predator ship. From there the idea became a short lived comic book series. However the story idea's used in the comic were flawlessly written! If you never read the comic, I'll try and sum it up. Going off of the 1979 movie "Alien" directed by Ridley Scott, the "Alien ship" that the Nostromo came across was supposed to be a crash landed "Predator" ship! The Predators would harvest the Alien eggs and hunt the aliens once they had matured as a sort of Predator "right of assention". Weather or not this same idea will be used in the upcoming movie remains to be seen. As it lies, the plot outline is that rogue scientists find Pyramids burried under the glaciers of Ant Arctica with Hyroglifs depicting "face huggers" on humans, and Aliens bursting from human chest cavities. Upon further investigation the scientists also find that there could be live Alien specimens in the pyramids... all the while the Predators have been monitoring this little operation, and are (needless to say) interested in hunting the Aliens again. If you're a fan like me, you've desperatly been waiting for someone to get the idea to make this film! Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I saw a poster for this outside The Last Samurai last week, and I'm hoping to see a trailer on the big screen soon (I like to get my first look at films that way, rather than a small downloaded trailer on my laptop.) If done well, this may be a fun little romp!

I agree Justin. I don't know if you know this or not, but the same guy that did the innovative creature effects for Alien 3 (Tom Woodruff Jr.) is attatched for the creature effects for AVP!! I'm not sure what to expect from director Paul W.S. Anderson however, being that he directed the movie's "Mortal Kombat" and more recently "Resident Evil"... both movies that were more geared towards the "teenie bopper" market. However he did also direct the VERY creapy movie "Event Horizon". So I suppose we'll just have to wait until next August to see. 8)
