So yeah they are quadrupling the extra charge for Blu. What a deal. But I figure they lose money on me anyway from renting so many movies that I will let it go. But on a positive recently a lot of blu ray titles that I have been waiting forever on all shipped so maybe they are buying more movies with this money.

Here is another indicator of the bad I think. I don't want Blu-Ray to tank now that I have inversted in it quite a bit, but it's not a typical business model to raise the price when something is doing well and has strong market presence is it?

Here is a quote from an article on Ars Technica: ''it could be an indication that Blu-ray isn't bringing in new subscribers like the company had hoped."

It's still cheaper then renting three blu-rays a week every month at our Hastings store... so No biggie.

1 or 2 dollars is no big deal but 4 is ridiculous.

The thing that bothers me most is that it says "Due to popularity"... I mean... I don't know... that sounds a little fishy. I guess if the dollars are going towards movies being more readily available then... whatever.

All this means is that instead of my usual 3 blu-ray rentals. It's now going back to 2 rentals at a time. I saw ththe email and was like damn...$4 bucks...this is getting outrages.

Is this not the same company who's profits were up 29% ?

Just one more reason not to give them the time nor the day or my $.

It has been said that Red Box is going to start to carry Blu Ray, so I will hit them up when they do. Other than that, I will continue to purchase the movies that I really want.

Actually, yes it is common. It's typical economics 101 stuff -- Whenever demand is high, prices are increased to either take advantage of the demand or attempt to slow the pace. If it works for Netflix, I wouldn't doubt that other rental places will follow suit.
