The audio menu in this player is intimidating to me. My television is hooked up via HDMI but the sound keeps cutting out on it. My surround sound is hooked up thru the optical connection and is working perfectly. If you know the menus on this player, how do I get the sound to work on the stereo tv thru the hdmi? Thanks.

This shocked me as my HD-A3 0 HD DVD player never did this. I'm sure though that it must be some kind of simple menu change.

i have no solution for you wolvinator..i just wanted to say "congrats", and that you made a great choice on your player. i seriously doubt that anyone is going to be able to help you with this here, cause you are probably the only member that posts that owns this model. from what you have described, it doesnt make sense as to why the sound is cutting out on your monitor. does it still do this when the surround sound/ reciever is turned "off"? anyway..good luck and enjoy, and once you get it figured out please let us know what you think of the panny...

btw:
where is "mr. green"???

I have a guess.

When i bring my DMP-30 to another tv and play the sound through the tv I have to go into the audio menu and turn it from bitrate to PCM. Essentially making the player decode the sound. If your tv doesn't decode Dolby Digital it will just cut out as you described as channels go from stereo to DD all the time. While the receiver can decode those audio streams. That's my guess. Don't know if that's it, but it's something to try.

That could very well be the problem. It may just be one or the other. PCM only or Bitstream only. I will try that tonight. It's not a huge problem since I use only my surround during movies. However, it would be nice to use the tv sound only during playback of youtube videos which this player can do.

Yes, should be the PCM setting.
