What the second article states though is that the format was developed from the chinese goverment to fight imported technology and keep things local. Which is maybe why warner want's to ship movies over there in that format. Not necessarily ditching blu. It basically means they wanna make it easier for them to sell. But damn, they are so cheap, both players and movies. Gotta love HD communism.

View profile »Dynamics in China might be changing however, since before China's "rich" could only afford even DVD, and the more wealthy rejected the native format because they had the power and financial clout to import illegal American DVDs.
