However, my guess is that if they can get the technology right and make it work it could be a big deal for Blu-ray. Mainly because it seems to have the edge over download on this one. Compression artifacts and noise found on downloads could prove a problem for proper 3D.
All that said. We are talking 2010/2011 at the earliest before 3D will start to pick up.

View profile »I hope so, however 2010/2011 is relatively close for one of the early developers to pull the plug.
For them to abandon research suggests its either further away than the next couple of years or Philips are cost cutting along with everyone else. If the latter is the case then it doesn't bode well for innovation.

About the thread, I hope this 25% drop in prices really happens because I would really like to get a Panasonic BD60 or BD80 but I don't want to pay $400 for it. No way.

View profile »I got my dmp-bd60 for $245. It's a beaut and has had no hiccups yet. So I don't know where you shop but $400 is pretty high even for the dmp-bd80.
