Open water...the low budget, the cinema varite' type of filming, the "supposed to be" natural acting, the sharks, the jelly fish... it sucked!
A tiring Movie to the bone! I didnt found it entertaining at any fase of the screening, acting sometimes meant to be funny, it sounded awful under the given situation the musical scoring (if one can call it that) was at least disgusting and the ending a complete disaster for the whole fuss before it.
This thriller "a la Blair witch project" is one of the worst movies that i have ever saw. This one takes the "cheap entertainment" thing on a whole new level. I Avoided watching this one in the theater just from its trailer, in such situations the next step is DVD, this one, is not even liable to entertain you anywhere.

Have you ever produced or directed a short film? Have you ever been in a sound studio for hours and hours making sure that everything looks perfect? How about working a night job trying to make money to pay for film?
This is the trouble us filmmakers go through. I own my own Production Company here in San Diego. We write and throw away scripts. We call our wives letting them know we will not be home until 4,5 ,6 in the morning.
The effort that these couple (the directors) put into this film was magnificent. They told themselves... "Lets do it, no matter what, let's do it." I appreciate their efforts, which makes me appreciate the film they created.

I loved this film! I thought it was well done from what they had to work with. Plus the fact that it was based on an actual event from January of 1998, when a couple was left stranded off the Great Barrier Reef near Australia, and parts of their equipment were found in February. Their bodies, however, never were.

Rogue Films:
Last time i checked the reason to go the Cinema is to get entertained and not think how much trouble went into it, ok, the criticism was a bid hard...you're right, it was a first for me. Anyway, i dont know how much trouble they went into, but again the film is intented NOT to filmakers that can appreciate "troublesome" shooting, but an audience and for me they had all that trouble for nothing. This is one of the films i cant even reconginze as a form of "art". Its a pop-corn movie that actually sells the pain and suffering of two real people. For me, they failed! I Dont know about you, but if i was working so hard to get the funds and spend so much time in a soundstage to make sure that everything looks Ok...and i ended up with that...i would Quit. Lots of people are shooting "blank" scripts...with some catchy dialog with the ridiculus idea that they are actually filming. If thats your idea of filmmaking, then my good friend you are a buisiness man, NOT an artist.
