So I guess this would get any HD DVD owner pretty mad because this brings up all those buried "I hate Blu Ray" memories. All of you that thought HD DVD was the greatest thing ever. All of you that used to trash Blu Ray in these very forums.

johnson,

it's an indisputable fact that some blu-rays are inferior to their hd dvd counterparts.

from warner:
"harry potter 4" (IME PIP)
"harry potter 5" (IME PIP)
"blood diamond" (IME PIP)
"troy" (theatrical) (IME PIP, not to mention that some people prefer the theatrical version over the director's cut)
"300" (IME PIP)
any number of titles that had DD+ or TrueHD audio on HD DVD but only plain vanilla DD on Blu-ray

IB, you are right, we do get to keep those dics...now that I think about it, if WB sends new copies it would be like re-buying the titles for less than $7....which is not bad at all. I think I'm going to do it, since like you said, you keep your HD DVDs...

EDIT:
Quote:
A: You send your HD-DVD cover art sleeves to our processing center. We will match your cover art to your order, and then ship your new Blu-ray discs. For some box sets, special instructions will be listed on the page where you select your HD-DVDs.

So I get that they will send the disc ONLY?

That's how it reads to me. That you get the Blu-Ray Disc and the Blu-Ray cover art. And of course the message they sent me didn't help much at all.

I sent:

To Whom it may concern,

I'm a little confused as to how this works. I read through the FAQ and this one baffled me a little bit.

Q: After I complete the online order, what's next?
A: You send your HD-DVD cover art sleeves to our processing center. We will match your cover art to your order, and then ship your new Blu-ray discs. For some box sets, special instructions will be listed on the page where you select your HD-DVDs.

The way it reads to me is, that you send in the sleeves of the HD-DVD's... keeping the discs and cases. Then you send me the Blu-ray sleeve and blu-ray disc. Is this wrong? It just doesn't make much sense to me. However this could be due to me being tired but. I'd just like some clarification. Do you send me the full Blu-Ray product, with blue case and everything? Or am I just replacing my old discs and box art with Blu-ray discs and box art? Just... Help me out here...

Sincerley,

Michael C

They replied with

Hi Michael,

Yes, you will place your order on line and then you will ship us the HD-DVD cover art sleeve. It must match the Blu-ray disc you are purchasing. Once we receive the cover art sleeve, we will then send you your new Blu-ray disc. I hope this has been helpful.

Didn't really answer my question...

I suppose I'll jsut go ahead and do it when I get the extra scratch. Then I'll Just pick up 6 of these

They don't offer The trilogy, just the first one, in which case you'll get the Digibook version.

Keep your superior HD DVD's to piss Johnson 316 off.

Even if the offer applied to me, It still is a bit of a waste of time. Nice Gesture however, but kind of a waste.

*There is a crap loads of advertising and annoying trailers ont he Blu equivalents. Keep the HD DVD's...*

Yes but you -do- keep your HD-DVD's... you just don't keep the sleeves.

So my question is... Can anyone here make some HD-DVD sleeves.... you know... if I do this? )

Mike... wouldn't it just be easier to simply use a color copier for your HD DVD covers, send the originals to Warner, and use the copies of the artwork for your kept HD DVD discs?

As Henning said, this program is a nice move by Warner... for a low price, you can replace select titles for the Blu-ray equivalent, plus you still get to keep your original HD DVD disc, only parting with the original Cover Art... if I understand the program right.

As for THE MATRIX, I also own the HD DVD Trilogy (got it used/mint and cheap Spring 2007), so it will be easy to replace the first movie for the new Digibook edition (I'll just copy the HD DVD cover to keep for my HD DVD case).

Of course, I still have a decent collection of HD DVD discs (movies and concerts, about 60 to 70), and 2 HD DVD players, and will continue to enjoy them for many years... along with Blu-ray too of course.

Update to my post above... I just noticed that Warner has also included the "Ultimate Matrix Trilogy" as part of the replacement program too, although it's higher priced ($14.95 set), but still worth the deal.
