What do you get when you go to amazon.com, see on the right side a movie with a link that gives you the the name and price of the movie, and says it is up for pre-order (remember lord of the rings recently?)??? well feast on these two links and see what you make of it... and then read below

Looks to me like The Wizard of Oz, and Gone With the Wind... two unforgettable, and never forgettable, silver screen classics (both made in the same year and by the same guy at that), will be seen on Blu-Ray soon!!!

Any takes on this?

"Gone With the Wind" = terrible movie

"The Wizard of Oz" = boring movie

I'm certainly down for Wizard of Oz, but this isn't "new" news at all. Bill Hunt at the Bits has had this info up for at least two months now.

Thanks Jason I was about to mention that as well, I've heard the same announcements about these two films here and there for a while, I think the last time I caught a glimpse of the unofficial cover art at dvdbeaver 'unofficial' being the key word there obviously. I see Amazon's got the same art up as well now, but again nothing official. Still, we all knew it was coming, I'm actually surprised it's been this long.

Aaron

p.s. Eddie why do I get this annoying feeling that every five years we're going to get a new "Gone With The Wind" 'special-uber-anniversary-yippee!' release??

I wouldn't rent either of these movies never mind buy them but there are probably people out there that enjoy these. Still how many editions do you need of these?

Falcon,

To be honest, Wizard of Oz hasn't been released all that much. One back in 1997, the 3-Disc CE, the 2-Disc SE and now the BD. All things considered, not bad.

Jason, if I only had a brain

freakin' overblown post title...

Casablanca is already out on Blu, thus ill pass the rest of the OVERPLAYED-ON-TCM list of cows yet to be milked in HD.

I am actually heading to the tiny town of Cadiz Ohio next weekend. This is Clark Gables home town, and they are having a big celebration for both movies. There will be stars from Gone With The Wind and 3 original Munchkins from OZ on hand for autographs.
