From Darkhorizons.com:
"Batman on Film recently got contacted by a source who has some more info on the upcoming special edition DVDs of the first four "Batman" films. Amongst the facts gleaned:
- The first two films are finished. Tim Burton re-recorded his commentary tracks with a "guest." Disc One of both will include remastered pictures and sound with commentary. Disc 2 has trailers, TV Spots, vintage footage and a new featurette on the film. The first film also gets a feature length documentary.
- Joel recorded commentary tracks for the theatrical edition of "Batman Forever" along with "Batman & Robin". Afterwards Joel decided to ask WB to recut "Forever" back to something that resembles his original edit. WB agreed and gave him a budget to do so. Joel is currently in Burbank working on some alterations to the film.
- It's expected the original version will be there with the new cut to be done with 'seamless branching' technology. The extended cut is expected to run around 2 hrs 35 mins. Schumacher is going to add as much footage as possible back in. Also some of the effects were not finished in the early workprint and they need to be finished and he has been given a small budget to work with for that, all new effects will be digital.
Current title is going to be '10th Anniversary Extended Director's Cut'."
Whoo-hoo! Finally I can dance with the devil by the pale moonlight with my new 2-disc SE of Batman. I could care less about Schumacher's sequels, but jeez...what masochist is willing to sit through a 2 1/2 hr. version of "Batman Forever."

I pray to GOD that these are sold individually. I do not want to shell out $ for the Scumacher abombinations. I just got don watching Catwoman (I decided to give it a chance, don't make fun of me) and it was more ridiculous than I expected. It makes The Last Dragon look like The Godfather, and it made Batman and Robin look better, God forbid. Watching that disgusting film made me admire the first two bat flicks even more (why did they try to outdo Pfeiffer's awesome performance?).
The point is, I really don't want to pay for movies I don't like, and if anyone knows if they will be sold individually or not, please share the info with the rest of us. Thanx!

Well I also liked the original cut which I knew wasn't anything special, but the DC actually makes it a better movie.
In a nutshell..
Murdock is more fleshed out, less Elektra, better fights, and the movie becomes less of a "revenge for my girlfriend" and more so a day in the life of Matt Murdock. The price is also right, SRP was only 20 so you can easily find it for around 10-13.

When does this collection come out!? Please tell me it's within six months...
I'm been getting so lucky with special edition releases of all my favourite movies that I didn't buy becuase I knew they would be coming out on DVD (Leon, Fifth Element, heard somewhere that I,Robot is coming out as a special edition soon) that I'm very giddy! ...and broke, oh so broke...

Well, at the risk of not sounding too humble about it, Justin and I did write a lengthy review on the "Daredevil" Director's Cut.

Sorry to go off the topic, but was the Daredevil directors cut really better? How so? I am actually one of the few that actually liked that movie from the beginning.

This is the best news ever. Likewise, I don't care for Forever or Batman and Robin, but the original and Returns are ESSENTIAL to every collection. Returns and Spider-man 2 are my fave superhero films of all time, and it's about time they get SE's.

You never know, DD is living proof that a director's cut can actually do wonders.

I guess I must be the only one here that wasn't all that into Batman. Don't get me wrong, I love the first two, and I enjoy watching them from time to time, but for some odd reason, I just never got the "bug" to go get them on DVD. Maybe it will be a good thing that I waited this long. We'll have to see how these newer versions turn out.
Pfeiffer's performance (in my opinion) in "Batman Returns" was a bit over the top. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great. Or maybe it's just the whole idea of the character. It's just TOO cliche, I think. She definitely knows how to be sexy though! I never did see "Catwoman". Though I suppose I should have gone, based purely on the fact that "Halle Berry" played the lead! Yowser, what a gorgeous woman!
