great honest review.

i am sick of movies being ruined or altered for merchandising purposes! however we can only blame ourselves for using tivo. i laugh when i think of back in the day when low budget movies or tv shows had the white and black (beer, cereal, detergent, etc) packaging. reeses pieces anyone?

Maybe I'm just bitter because after all these years I'm finally selling my gorgeous copy of Wolvie's first appearance:

Well, Chris, you and I certainly agree on this one. What a lousy way to kick off the summer movies!

Tim - Congress needs to make a "movie refund" law!

Didn't I tell you that was the reason the movie was available online by 'accident'??

I enjoyed when I watched the work print version online but I changed my opinion when I saw it again in theaters. I still think it's better then X-men 3, but the special effects were awful. Something I assumed would be finished in the final product. The aforementioned bathroom sequence is just terrible, it was barely above straight to DVD quality and also made me wonder why they didn't just use some physical claws. You could defintely tell the budget rumors that were floating around were true, it was like you could pinpoint moments where they ran out of money.

They should've cut out half the characters and focused more on the Sabretooth Wolverine relationship. Also since X-men 3, why is it that when they don't know what powers to give a mutant they default to running jumping Hong Kong wire work power? It's really irritating especially when it's characters that don't even have that ability (Gambit).

Now that's what I was thinking, the relationship between him and his brother would have been a little more focused, but instead they rushed everything so poorly that it made the entire plot a stinking mess! In fact, and after thinking about it, they should have split the story up into two or three movies instead of cramming too much into a less than 2hr film. I felt they could have made a decent film just based on the first act, but instead they opted for a plot and pacing nightmare. Budget or not, they were trying to tell too much in the shortest amount of time possible.

I agree with the "wire fighting". Though the effect has been fun over the years, it really is wearing out its welcome. It is getting to be a lame cliche and it just shows lack of creativity or original thinking. In other words, it's just plain lazy.

I _had_ that comic. Well, technically I still have it since it hasn't sold yet. We're looking for $5,500. I'll let you have it for $5,495.00 because you're a loyal reader.

What's sad is the new Wolverine movie is so freaking bad that I think it hurt the value of the old comic books. lol

Seeing as Wolvie just blew out the doors with a $35 M opening day, I don't think it's hurting anyone's value. As the late Len Schrader would have said "$35 M opening day? That's a great movie."
