Damn. You'd think J.J. Abrams had never seen a movie in a motion-picture theater before. He frames practically every shot for a television screen. Eddie warned me to sit a little farther back in the theater than I usually do. It's good advice. Abrams works mainly in close-ups, and they do get annoying.

That said, the movie is wonderfully entertaining. Great fun. The pace is nonstop, the actors are perfect, and two hours fly by. The time-warp/parallel universe gimmick seems unnecessarily clumsy, but I suppose Abrams wanted some way to connect the past with the present.

The film reminded me of how well Burton's "Batman," then "Batman Begins" and "Casino Royale" each reenergized those franchises. They basically just start from scratch, reboot, and promise a whole new era of fun.

That's funny because I would have never noticed. I usually always sit top row, back of the theatre because I hate hearing people behind me or having my seat kicked repeatedly.

Amen, Tim. We always go for back row. It really irks me when the reserved press seats are front row. I feel like I'm watching IMAX or something.

Agreed Jason! Back row actually kind of rules. If I have to get anything else, I do like the "rail seats" in the stadium theatres -- it allows you to kick your feet up on the rails, but back row is always my more normal choice.

Thanks George!

Admittedly I like both but yeah this goes to show what a good script and directing can do for any movie.

If I end up seeing "Transbormers 2", I'll get out of the seat and kick myself!
