I'm guessing the price point dropping below $300 was a big help. Great news for the format.

Yes, no doubt lower price points for soft- and hardware will keep driving sales.

I always saw the next optical HD format as a way for industry to keep current sales and earnings. Not a way to push prices up and earn more. So this is all good news.

I think the new $300 price point has a lot to do with the increase in sales. Combine that with the tough economy people are looking for ways to enhance their home entertainment experience. Cost much less to rent a Blu-ray then it does to take a family of 4 out to the movies. Hopefully Blu is here to stay for a while. After jumping on the HD bandwagon I can't afford to start a new collection.

The Funai clones are doing most of the heavy lifting.

Did anyone see the new FLAT Blu Ray player in the Best Buy add this past weekend? It can hang on a wall and it cost $300.00. Ok, so I asked myself the BIG question, why?

It's made by Samsung and it's a style thing I guess.

Quote:
One of the most exciting features of this player is the ability to mount it to your wall for a full seamless appearance. Add to that Samsung's Touch of Colour accenting to match your ToC display, and this player takes the title for both looks and function.
