I'm thinking about buying one of these bad boys. They seem a little pricey, but the picture quality is out of this world! What's the concensus on these?

I checked out the Samsung 55" LED TV on friday and there were 2 things that really bothered me.

1) WAY TOO BRIGHT. Seriously, my eyes would hurt after a while with this TV. Sure you can turn down the brightness and/or contrast but it changes the image significantly.
2) The 120 HZ Motion technology to make fast moving scenes not blur is REALLY bad. Once the camera pans or there is any fast moving action, the image looks like it's melting. Actually it looks like I was watching an HD video on a computer that didn't have the processing power to keep up. It really bothered me but apparently some people don't notice it which is very hard to believe.

I was considering selling my Pioneer plasma for one of these new LED TV's but I'm keeping it for now as it still has a better image IMO. I don't know how good the Luxia brand is but the Samsung did not impress me although the salesman told me there is another model coming out, the 8000 series, and he wasn't sure what the differences are going to be but he was under the impression that it would have 240HZ motion blur technology. The model I was looking at was the 6000 series.

If you can view this Luxia brand, or any other brand of LED TV, in person do so first. That's my suggestion.

Good call Falcon. Yeah, as we both own the same Pioneer KURO plasma, I don't see another brand topping the PQ of it until one of those forthcoming large-screen OLED models gets produced (2010-11 at the earliest for 40" models, probably 2012 for 50" and larger models). Depends on how fast the industry moves into OLED - stay tuned in and up-to-date with this site> OLED TV Display News

LCD technology is always improving, like this LED-lighted system (Samsung model). The problem is, that NO LCD can properly handle motion blurring with as high a resolution as that of plasma. It doesn't matter if it's super-fast action scenes, or slow pans -- on an LCD the one-on, one-off pixel "holding" tech just cannot produce as smooth an image as plasma, even with a super-fast 6ms down to 2ms response time. It's due to the LCD tech, as plasma processes the motion differently.

So, I'll be using my plasma for many more years, and will continue to support plasma (Panasonic is great too!), unless those forthcoming OLEDs surpasses it, or even SED (if we ever see Canon release any!!).

My two cents.

I bought my LG 42 Inch 120Hz in January, and there are times that the 120Hz seams to jump. But what I have found, that usually happens when I am watching a program in HD on TNT or ABC. What that tells me, is that there HD signal is crap. Now when I watch a movie on STARZ in HD or I watch any Blu Ray movie, well the picture is AMAZING. All in all I am truely happy with the 120Hz technology.
