How does one know if the discs are Region A, B, or C? There is a deal on some $9.99 Blu Rays, and as I was looking through their selection, some others looked good to me as well.

I know some were never released in the US and are probably other regions, but for titles I KNOW that were released here, can they potentially be Region B or C??

Thanks,

-Dave

I've ordered just regular SD DVDs and HD DVDs from them before, and as far as I know, many are Canadian region A releases...maybe they have French and English titles on the cover..also beware that some Canadian titles might be different than the US counterpart, some might be barebones and with 1080i...I think Se7en and a few others that have yet to be released in the US are...

I order from Inetvideo.com about once a month (from their email specials). All of their Blu-ray discs are Region A -- which consists of American studio/distributors releases (Warner, etc), and others from Alliance (Canada), but regardless of edition they are Region A and fully compatible with all players.

The DIFFERENCE arises with the content and mastering. Some of those Alliance discs are mastered in 1080i or interlaced (not p/progressive), and also may often lack the bonus content found on USA BDs.

The HD DVDs are identical in content and mastering as those released in the USA, but sometimes the cover art will be in both English and French.

Inetvideo.com ships fast, and I usually receive my orders within 10 days, and I live in the Houston area (far from Canada).

Received a great deal on the Austin Powers Blu-ray set (Warner US edition) a few months ago.

Excuse my ignorance but can you give some movie examples from the site that are distributed by Alliance or at least how can you tell the difference when ordering movies from iNet Video. I am going to be ordering more movies from them (2 so far on HD DVD but haven't arrived yet) and some of the ones on my list are Blu.

Thanks,
SMan

To tell you the honest truth, You can actually get both US and Canadian born titles. I have a mixute from them in their shipments. The last two BD's I recieved were US origin. The HD DVD's have always had english and French on them. Could be due to the fact The last few orders were from .com, and not .ca?

That's a good question, Santa Man, as the ones I'm sure of are based on knowing that they are Canadian releases and not yet available in the USA market, such as these:

Reindeer Games
Trainspotting
Chasing Amy
From Dusk till Dawn
Cold Mountain
Traffic
Rounders
Requiem For a Dream
Seven
Passchendaele
Good Will Hunting

Some titles are available from both USA distributors and Alliance (Canada), and I would assume that Inetvideo defaults to shipping the Canadian edition:

Sin City
Planet Terror
Death Proof
Silent Hill

...others

Their site is not specific as to details (unfortunately), and the only really noticeable difference usually is the different Cover Art compared to the US edition.

You can always email customer service to be sure of the edition.

Yes, email them, but don't hold your breath waiting for an answer...I'm still waiting for their policy on used titles...

Wow, I guess I should cross my fingers. I just ordered Doomsday for $9.99 plus shipping yesterday. There was no indication of whether or not it was a US or Canadian release.

I'm not sure if it was ever released in Canada, but I know Universal released it here.

Thanks for all the info guys!

I just wanted to pass this info on to you all. I took Hendrix advise and emailed the folks at iNet Video about the mastering issue and etc. They replied quite quickly and here is the response they gave:

Quote:
Dear Customer,
Thank You for contacting us.

The blu-rays we have are all Canadian Alliance releases.

As far as the 1080 concern you have, these disks are mastestered in the exact same way the US releases are, and contain the same content on the main disk.

The differences you may encounter with out products are the following

- The artwork may be alternate

- The artwork may contain both french and english written

- The copies we have do not include digital copies that you might find with the US release.

Otherwise the main feature film, and special features are the same as the US releases.

In case this email does not fully answer your question, or you would like to contact us for any reason, simply reply to this email.

So some good news there and I hope it helps.
