EXCLUSIVE: Talk about spot-on casting. I've just learned that Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige and director Kenneth Branagh have chosen their THOR -- and it's Chris Hemsworth, who can currently be seen as "George Kirk" in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot and also just snagged the lead in Red Dawn for United Artists on Thursday.

Apparently Samuel L Jackson will be in this also.

"Thor" and a remake of "Red Dawn"!?

Oh, the creativity of Hollywood never ceases to amaze me.

Yeah, no kidding, remakes galore in Hollywood. How is this guy a "spot on choice"? He looks way to small to fill the shoes of a big dude like Thor.

Personally, I'm waiting for the remake of Amazon Women On the Moon and The Toxic Avenger.

If they're going to use Thor's alter ego Don Blake, they can't cast a guy who is too big.

However, if they were really considering all those muscle men before then they're probably jettisoning the Don Blake character and sticking with Thor strictly as a god.

Actually I wonder if they're going to try to avoid using the word "god" so as not to offend certain vocal portions of the populace who like to protest certain films.

Last I heard, the plan was for "Thor" to have more of a Conan/LOTR-style feel with the movie taking place in Asgard.

It'd be cool if the movie ended with Thor exiled to Midgard where he runs into Nick Fury or Tony Stark.

Considering they've been melding the Ultimate Marvel and Marvel 616 versions, I wouldn't be surprised if they ditched Donald Blake or relegated him to a cameo. Did he ever show up in Ultimates?

I have no interest in Thor, but Red Dawn has some potential. Remember that Jericho, which had a similar theme, was a fairly big hit on tv a few seasons ago.

A couple years ago, CBS was going to pull the plug on the show. It was the fans that put enough votes together to keep it running a couple more seasons. I never watched more than a couple shows. It seemed ok but I never have been into the whole survival after WW3 theme.
