A "task force"?? They can't even get the discs to play without a glitch, and...

So now we're going to have 4 disc editions of movies!! The regular 2D version disc, plus the 3D version disc, plus the 2d SD DVD plus the SD Digital Copy!! NICE!!!

And Frackin' Walmart still sells new BluRays for $30. What will the 3d version cost $40-$50?

Good point! Will we be able to take advantage of this 3-D technology with CURRENT bluray players?

There will be a lot of pissed off people if they tell us we need new players to be able to see this 3-D stuff.

yeeeeh, well you still need stereoscopic images to be presented on ur tv, meaning ur existing, fantastic KURO Plasma TV that costs thousands won't cut the mustard. Maybe they can figure out smt like "Interlaced", but instead of the next frame, half the lines will show the other camera. Ofcourse i dunno what kind of sick glasses youll have to wear to watch that.

Plus, i just realized, in order to project real sterescopic images ull need to project 2 distinct frames at the same time overlapping, which translates to using, if not twice the bitrate, half the quality to use existing disc and hardware. U might throw at my face the fact that a multi-layered blu-ray disc can reach up 2 "number" of gigabytes, but i bet you that disc will be a tat more expensive. Do we know if blu-players have ANY bandwidth limits whatsoever? (Most commercial dvd players won't play mpeg2 video above the 7.5 - 8.0 mbits)

I believe Samsung has a 60" LED DLP for $2000, that is ready for 3-d. As far as needing a new player, i'm not too sure but if i had to guess i would say "no." The player would send the source to the monitor and it does the rest....
