Found a better image of the poster:

Also, this is a very rare poster that doesn't seem to have been re-printed. This means that you will have to buy the original which currently will set you back $2,250.... Damn!

It's about time. The old ones are so old and outdated and corny. It should be re-done in the new and improved way with groovy CGI characters and nobody in the cast over the age of 23 because nobody wants to watch old people.

A remake, what a surprise! I can't believe Hollywood doesn't do this more often.

I think the original holds up just fine today and I really don't see the need for a remake. Besides, "Alien" wasn't about the special effects, it was about the tension and fear that builds among people in a trapped and horrifying circumstance - it just happened to take place in outer space.

What I fear with a remake is they will turn it into a CGI, over-paced hype fest. I fear there will be too much exposure to the alien, which less exposure is what made the original work so well. Fear of the unknown and unseen is far more effective on an audience than showing us every little detail on a CGI monster. As long as the movie doesn't turn into a big advertising campaign for ILM, and the creators stick to a good story that builds the fear and tension of the original, then they might be able to pull off something worth while.

LOL!

If they all dress up like the guys in "300", it might be worth it!

WHY?! ALIEN is probally one of those few films that has endured the passing of time, as neither its story, acting, photography, musical score, special effects, etc. look, sound nor feel outdated even more, newer generations have enjoyed as much as those who saw it first in the late 70's, which at the time ALIEN was revolutionary, since probally it was the first horror-scifi film ever made, that inspired others in the following years/decades to copy its formula unsuccessfully.

No doubt ALIEN is not only one of the best movies in Ridley Scott's career, also is one of the best movies in film history, yet himself is willing to tarnish that. Why would he think that remake a perfectly well made film is a good idea? Is he becaming senile? Has he been so corrupted by money that he's willing to destroy his own life's work? Next we'll hear rumours that he's planning to reboot BLADE RUNNER (so that Decker isn't a replicant?) and remake GLADIATOR (with Orlando Bloom as Maximus)

Does having Ridley Scott as producer will ensure at least a decent remake? Of course not, you can ask John Carpenter when he acted as producer for The Fog's remake, and that one sucked big time, like most remakes do. Also making a decent remake wouldn't be enough, if you can't do a remake that surpasses the original, then don't bother doing it, and any well stablished and respectful director knows that, yet Ridley Scott seems not to care as long he can profit from it.

One would think that Ridley Scott would have enough influence, to avoid this from happening, by suggesting FOX the idea of a prequel to ALIEN (even better producing and/or directing it) rather than a remake that would be a more appealing idea, since I for one would be interested in finding out more about where the Aliens came from, how and why the derelict alien spacecraft end up on LV-426, and who (or what) is the space jockey, and with him onboard, certanly would be more interesting and appealing than the AVP films, or this uncalled remake.

I'm really disgusted with this, and I hope this is just a rumour, yet if it turns out to be true, that would be the day that I would loose respect and admiration for Ridley Scott, once a highly praised award winning director, that lost its sight due to money hunger, to the point of wrecking his own legacy to film history.

As for FOX, there's no surprise that their thrist for money is so grand, like all the other movie studios, that they'll keep releasing unnecesary remakes, sequels, prequels and reboots of beloved films, until the pond dries out... if anybody feels the same, then once and for all, avoid those films alltogether, because everytime you pay to watch/own one of those remakes, sequels, prequels and reboots, you're encouraging them to keep doing it.
