It's certified fresh at 98%!! I'm very tempted to go today after work...yet again we are not disappointed at the movie that most of us await for every year, THE Pixar Movie...

One thing about Pixar, they never fail to impress, even their most mediocre material.

Pixar really pays attention to detail so I really want to see their first 3D.

It's GREAT, and I think it's the best thing we'll get this year (as in blockbusters and big productions this year).

First, (since this is a 'kids' film) the kids were glued to the movie throughout the whole thing (except when a girl said 'balloons' a couple of times)...that didn't happen when we went to watch Wall-E.

The movie starts beautifully, with what we can call a prologue with the main's character early life, Carl's, from when he was a kid and he idolized the explorer that would become the bad guy (no spoiler at all), to when he meets his wife and she dies (another NO spoiler). Yes, I shed some tears, and I'm not ashamed to say it.

Then the movie starts with the adventure, we meet Russell, the thing that makes Carl decide to live their dream, to when they get to South America, and how it turns into an adventure that equals some best scenes from the Indy tetralogy. I must note that there is a scene where I laughed really really hard that is when they begin flying and Russell says he could touch the buildings...if you've seen it, don't tell me it was a daring thing to do!! Similar daring thing, was the fate of the 'bad guy', I still can't believe they did that.

Overall, you laugh, you cry, you are entertained...this movie is similar to Ratatouille than Wall-E, it's just great...Oh, by the way, like I mentioned in the other post, the audience was ecstatic with Toy Story 3's trailer...that movie is going to make box office history, I promise...

EDIT: Roger Ebert said don't waste your money on the 3D version...and I should've listened...DO NOT spend the extra bucks with the 3D, it does mute colors a bit, and it doesn't make a difference on the perception of things...for that, I will have to re-watch UP again...

Cool, thanks for the advice on the 3-D version. I saw the 3-D version of Bolt and that was ok (3-D didn't blow me away but it had a few good moments) but I'll watch the regular version of this one.

Even mediocre Pixar is still a pretty good movie and Up is pretty mediocre. It completely lost me once the house lands and never fully recovered. Even though the character development for Fredricksen is right on the screen, I didn't care about the surrounding characters, most notably the bird or Muntz.

I'd say on par with A Bug's Life, which is a movie I DO enjoy...

I thought up was really good. However I have to preface that it has a lot of dog humor. If you don't own a dog or haven't spent significant time with them a lot of the jokes will fall flat.

I don't think this is Pixar's mediocre film, I just think that if you didn't like it is because of Carl's character, of him being an old 'hero', that is why I think there wasn't more character development for Russell, and I don't think we needed anymore info on Kevin (the bird) at all. Muntz had his story, and its pretty solid, he needed to prove himself with the US public by bringing back the real bird, not just bones.

Again, I think this is more of Ratatouille, but you can clearly see that it was made by one of the guys who wrote Wall-E, specially for the prologue, which is one of the best things on 'film' in a few years.

Unfortunately, for a reason I don't know, the short 'Partly Cloudy' didn't screen when I saw UP, how good was it?
