I'd like to know what happened to all the bigscreen LED tvs that Samsung was selling. You cannot find them on the market anymore. I'm talking 60" and higher with DLP. Biggest ones right now are 50".

wolvinator,

You sell what moves. Right now, people aren't buying as many screens larger than 50". When the economy picks up, screens will increase.

By the way, the LEDs are still expensive, but they're coming closer to the elusive deep-black levels that Panasonic Kuras achieve. In direct, side-by-side comparisons, most folks at electronics shows couldn't tell the difference in PQ between a Pioneer Kura Elite plasma and a Sony XBR8 with LED backlighting. The thing is, for these two top-of-the-line sets, you pay about $5,000 for a 50" model. They're not exactly flying off the shelves. But I think both technologies will come down in price by half within the next few years, and obviously we'll see better and better TVs.

John,
I understand they must not be selling. However, it's not because of price. The 61" DLP LED tvs were only about $1500 whereas many of the 50" tvs are much higher than that in price. Example $5000 that you just mentioned. Must be that people are forgoing size to get slim models.

Just a quick comment from what Falcon was talking about. Yes, there are times, when the 120Hz is turned on, the picture can "Judder" as if it were trying to keep up with the action. But most of the times, you see that from networks like TNT and USA. What that tells me, is that those networks are not broadcasting in 1080i. Now when you watch a Blu Ray movie or a movie on STARZ HD, the picture is purely flawless. I think it comes down to weather we are being duped by these networks who brag about there HD quality.

wolvinator,

It may also be a matter of where the sets are sold. Remember, most people still buy their televisions from Wal-Mart and Target-type stores, which don't normally sell the bigger or more exotic kinds of sets. They handle just the stuff that moves the fastest.
