I had a recent update from Microsoft for Service Pack 2 for Windows VISTA. Warning, install this at your own risk! It took my entire system down. The repair mode did nothing but make things worse. I could not even bring it into Safe Mode. I had to completely reinstall the original software, and now I have the headache of reinstalling all my software.

Lovely, thanks Microsoft for being so freaking reliable!

Sorry to hear, Tim.

At least I know now why I stuck with XP, why I back up everything on both drives every month, and why Microsoft is replacing Vista with yet another operating system as soon as they possibly can.

I've never had any interest in switching to a Mac, but I can understand why Justin Long looks so smug in those TV commercials. (Or maybe it's just the paycheck. )

No, important documents, files, and images. etc. were all there and safe. It's just that when you have to completely reinstall the VISTA OS, it saves your old version of Windows in a folder called "windows.old". In that folder is ALL the programs and applications you were running. Problem is, none of them work and you have to reinstall evey program you had on your system. The games, office suites, graphics suites, basically it's like starting from scratch!

Microsoft can bite my shiny metal ass! .!..

Yes, and right now registered MS Developers can use the beta version known as "Windows 7". I have a buddy of mine that is licensed to use it and he's been telling me it's a far better, smoother OS than VISTA could ever dream of being. He's had nothing but good things to say about it, and for a beta version, he's only ran into a couple very small bugs that are sure to be addressed before the full release.

Sorry to hear about that Tim. Vista to me was an extreme waste of Microsoft's resources. Just when people got use to XP here comes Vista and along with the fact that some older M$ software couldn't work with Vista was stupid. Sure it a was a tactic to for you to buy newer versions of their software like Pitcure It. We could go into other areas in which they just throw their products out there and hope they work but we won't.

The simple fact is as long as PC manufactures are held at gunpoint by M$ this will always continue to happen. Thank God for AMD, I would've really hate to see the processor market dominated by just one manufacture.

The only problem I've had with Vista so far is with Movie Maker. When I'm editing the raw movie files and then I want to Publish it the thing keeps locking up at some percentage. I've only been able to make 2 movies. It's great when it works but for some reason very glitchy.
