As Twitter sweeps the world I was wondering if any of you use it and how. Should DVDTOWN.com use twitter different than it does?

Let me know!

I don't use Twitter. I'm not a fan of jumping on the new flavor of the month and creating a new account for every new trendy social networking website. Facebook is good enough in my opinion.

Still, there's no harm in DVDTown expanding its horizons.

I tried it for a little while, but since than have given up. I just don't see the fascination of a friend or some entertainer telling you they just got done eating a strip of bacon or stopped at 7/11 for a Big Gulp. That alone gets made fun of on Late Night with Conan O'Brian.

I think Facebook is my choice for a social network. It's a little more familiar ground that I am used to and plenty of fun applications to get your friends and family involved with. Plus, I'm not limited to 142 characters or forced to talk in 90% acronym code, which is something else I find highly annoying about Twitter. Others may swear by it, but it's just not my cup of tea.

Personally I see it as RSS and SMS on steroids.

I use it mainly to stay-up-to-date on news, web development and more.

I checked twitter out the other day and saw no point to it. Like Tim said, who cares if a celeb went to the john and crapped out a spoon.

Not to toot my own horn, but I was on Twitter long before it became trendy.

Yeah, a lot of people just post about their breakfast or how they can't poop in the mornings. It's inane and a complete waste.

Me? I use it as a micro-blog to post thoughts or musings that are too brief to post on my regular blog. Sometimes I'll post quickie movie reviews, cool links or news items. I'll be Twittering from Comic-Con with all the latest happenings via my mobile phone. And I've been able to keep in touch with old friends.

Some celebs like comedians Michael Ian Black and Rainn Wilson have posted funny stuff on their feeds. Crime novelist Charlie Huston is actually writing fiction through Twitter.

It's a useful tool that you just have to know how to use.

I'm with Will as far as the Micro-blogging goes... but yeah... sometime's I'll throw the occasional Poop or sandwich tweet.

"Pooping while eating a sandwich. Fuck yeah!"

Seriously though. I like it better than Facebook because... Facebook has -become- Twitter. It's somethin I should like it for but... Facebook is just there. I mean I use facebook but not as much as Twitter.

I also have problems putting my thoughts into long elaborate paragraphs of story. Short 140 character posts let me get straight to the point. Sure I may have to tweek around with it a little bit but it's always a good feeling to get a nice Twoosh.
