For those of you calling Twitter a waste of time, there are Iranian citizens currently using Twitter to quickly get information out regarding the recent election and violence against protestors. With the Iranian government trying to shut down foreign media coverage, this is crucial information. Not to mention they're putting themselves in danger since their internet is monitored.

That's nice. Waste of time for NA, and most civilized nations. As a time waster, seriously people find someting more constructive to do with his or her time...

For me Twitter is much more relevant than facebook and not a waist of time. I get breaking news, web development tips, food tips and much more. On facebook I get spammed with quizzes and can learn that a friend had cornflakes this morning.

Please pardon the aside here, but this T thing is amazing.

Imagine someone goes back in time and makes a few changes. You are shielded from the effect so you are aware of the changes, while everyone else is oblivious. (Think S.T. Voyager) The next day things you had NEVER heard of before will be talked about every day, by everybody, as if it had been around for a long time.
Exactly my experience with T.

Wake up people!!! There here!!!

I use it, but my hook is that I only post stuff I say to my kids or rules that I lay down during the day.

Example: "Gingerbread man or not, we don't say 'damn' in Candy Land."

You can do that on Facebook AND share pictures & videos with your family and friends. Facebook just seems more like a complete package to me but I guess it doesn't work for everyone which is fine.

If it works for you than thats great.

Twitter is getting quite the buzz lately with this iranian situation. The best way to describe is "News as it happens".

it's these new technologies that threaten news corporations, specially on a local level.

On the other hand, when it started revving up (even before the iran situation) many industries thought of it as a marketing tool. When it started it had computer geeks and Tech Industry people in it's "most followed people" lists, now it's Ashton kutcher, britney and all those other tossers. Plus, it's getting filled more and more with bots advertising stuff. It's a nice concept, it worx, but it will drown it's own self pretty soon.

Same goes with facebook i think, it's a great utility, but when you really look at it, it's the utlimate ego tool, the most useful tool it has is messaging (something you could since email) the quizes and the rest are just stupid stuff to keep you there. Itll be hip until the "next best thing", same thing happened with myspace.

i have to say though, Its nice looking at web 2.0 making it's way into the mainstream media and culture.
