I like Burton's remake to this...IMO, it dated badly...

I loved Burtons also, but I grew up with this movie. I remember back in the day, they would show this every summer as a re-release. I just hope it transfers to Blu Ray beautifully.

Tim Burton massacred Willy Wonka imo. It looked "pretty" however had no warmth of the original movie. And Johnny Depp channeling Michael Jackson into his character totally was a total wrong move on his part . Should have stuck with the Gene Wilder model of weird. Burton shouldn't have made the same guy the copy of all oompa loompas and should have had several varying people fill those roles. It seemed like an experiment in pretentiousness on Burton's part.
I feel that Burton may kill Alice in Wonderland as well. Again - the screens look great - however I think he will put his own twist to the characters which usually means taking great liberties in making the characters totally different.
He should just stick with new original movies - he is great at those.


I have this superior version on HD DVD already - will jump to Blu when my players die and I can't find any others to replace them.
