You normally see a console system bundled with CRAPPY GAMES (see xbox 360 holiday bundle). This time, Sony got it right by selling the 80GB PS3 with KILLZONE 2 & MGS4 for $400. Consider getting the ONLY PS3 GAMES THAT MATTERS... for free. You get both of the BEST PS3 GAMES that utilize the console's power (have u seen the grafix on either one yet?), with one game engaging you in DEEP NETWORK GAMEPLAY, while the other absorbs you on a Single-Player campaign.

This, I may consider buying at Best Buy. Maybe...

At $400, I really don't think it will matter much. The last couple years have already proven that peeps will settle for low-cost video game entertainment ** cough, cough . . . Nintendo . . . cough, cough **. And again, current economic conditions?

Look, we have people here on the board that think over $100 is too much for a Blu-ray player, so $400 would have to sound a bit over the top for these peeps. The PS3 has had its ass handed to it over the last two years. If Sony truly wants to make an impact in the Video Game market, then they need to drop that baby down to $200 w/2 games. If they did that, even I would consider buying one. . . . than again, I am dreaming. After all, we are talking about one of the greediest corporations next to Disney!

I agree completely. Besides... RECESSION HAPPENED.
Like I said: Still a big "MAYBE" for me. You see one console drop in retail price (or bundle games for the same cost), we see the other consoles follow suit.

I don't see myself charging like a rampant bull to get that deal. A sweet spot priced at under $300 may entice my taste.... MAYBE.

400 bucks is why sony is in last place! i prefer the 360 for games, better online experience for me. for movies and media the ps3 is awesome, but its a gaming console that doesnt care about games which is funny

I hate to say it but the Wii is not low-cost. Low-tech maybe but not low-cost.

$249.99 for a non-HD system that can't even play a DVD, had no regular controller, no headset for online play and I could go on.

The wii caught the buzz because of a new way to control games that appealed to people that normally don't play video games.

It is truly sad and if XBOX's project natal just works half as good as it looks to do the Wii will look ancient in a heartbeat.

Dell always seems to sell the PS3 on a discount, right now you can get a PS3 (no games) for about $340, here is the link I found

Tim,
The Wii is way, way, way overpriced. In fact Nintendo makes much more money on each unit sold than Sony does the PS3 so its interesting you think Sony is more greedy.

When I buy a game console I buy it to play games. I could care less if it plays DVD or hi-def BD, I already have a player specifically for that. Besides, I'm not taking my gaming console and beating the life out of it, I just want to play games.

Nope, sorry, I don't feel the Wii is a rip. It has sold well and everyone I know that owns one loves' em. In fact, a lot of their reasoning was price, and game consoles in general have been around the $250 range for many years. To me, and obviously other consumers that want a game console for game entertainment and not a bunch of bells and whistles, $250 isn't all that greedy. You can argue specifics between the two all you want, but the bottom line is most consumers see $400 vs. $250, and guess which one is lower?

PS: Oh, forgot, just a couple years ago it was $600 vs. $250.

I have a Wii and it tends to collect a lot of dust, it's a great system if you have young children in the house, but I rarely find a game for it that can hold my attention for more than a couple weeks. I did get Punch-Out recently and beat it in 2 weeks and traded it in for Infamous for PS3.

Maybe when Wii Resort comes out I might consider that, but I'm so annoyed that I would have to buy yet another controller attachment to the Wiimotes. I thought it was bad enough spending $80 for an extra remote and 2 nunchucks!

Well, a $199 XBOX 360 makes for a good deal.

The Wii really doesn't have some serious games you come back to. Plus, online gaming is a big deal for me.
