It's interesting the different thoughts and reactions to this film. I can't quite give mine without another viewing because of the cell phone distraction I had to deal with. One side of me feels like Eddie in the sense that I felt something awesome, but Chris makes a good analogy in calling it a bore because it was kind of slowed down and more drawn out than most Potter films. Then again, that might be a good thing since it is something different in the franchise. Nevertheless, it's a bit confusing for me at this point to draw a conclusion and I feel I may need to see it again. Damn, the life of being an independent thinker can suck sometimes!

I agree it was very drawn out but I'm guessing it's more of a buildup to what is coming in the seventh book which I have not read.

When I saw the movie there was a group of teenagers...around 16 yrs old and they were sitting in the row in front of us. There were about 5 of them sitting together and when the movie ended one of the girls said "thats it? Thats the ending?" I felt the same way.

Eddie, good point about Voldemort and the 40+ yrs of experience but come on dude "the chosen one" should at least make the guy sweat a little even if he is only a teenager. At least make it interesting and give Voldemort a reason to worry. So far, aside from Harry wanting revenge for his parents death, Voldemort has had nothing to cause him concern because it's been a no contest.

Well . . . yes, Half Blood Prince is a story that closes the final gaps in order to set the stage for the grand finale, and one can only assume that is what second to the last story should do. I can assure you the book was one of the best in the lot, but films are always a gamble and may not deliver the same results. Again, and as Potter films seem to go, some of us loved it while others didn't feel anything significant. Oh, well, entertainment is never perfect . . . except for that new Star Trek movie.

I went to see it the other day after rewatching all of the other movies first. Yes, Nerd I say. But geeze did I need to bruch up. I really liked the movie, even the High School Musical feel at the begininning, didn't really trake away from the movie all that much. A lot of gaps were bridged. It seemed like this movie was more of a quickly peice everything together before we can finish the series off. I still enjoyed it though. It wasn't rushed either.

Wow, I really can't say enough great things about this film. Not that it's necessarily a success without proper context, but it's the first of the series since Azkaban that's really felt nuanced and "magical". Though I'm sure nothing needs to be said about them, the performances were simply outstanding and arguably the best in the series. Having seen so many of these fine actors relegated to set-dressing for the past couple films, it was like seeing old friends again. I guess there's a chance that both Eddie and I were predisposed to love the film no matter the outcome, but even with my ridiculously high expectations (HBP is my choice book as well), I left the theater with a satisfaction not felt since The Bourne Ultimatum. It could perhaps just be that we've watched the kids grow into themselves, and that the tremendous casting is bewitching in itself, but I felt that Half-Blood Prince was a perfect study of this fictional world, if not also a fine character study as well. I totally understand the other side that may not find it as entertaining as previous entries, but for Potter fans, this has to be a joyous experience.

On another note... High School Musical? Really?!

Told you so...this isn't a great movie...I mean, in between this and Transformers 2 (which I saw yesterday and ended mentally drained, no joke) they both fail at being their best. HP is not enough, and Transformers is more than enough (half an hour could be slashed off without any consequences).

Hey, I did get my money's worth on Transformers the action is great, the photography is also great...this time I could tell who was who at the fights. The thing is, the first half of the movie is great, the third quarter drops horribly, and the end ties everything nicely and in yet another happily ever after moments...with a nice loose end (again) for another exhilarating sequel.

Ah, the miracle of personal opinions: I thought "Transformers 2" was easily the worst movie I've seen in a theater this year and "HP the Half-Blood Prince" one of the best. To each his own.

Less of the second half would've been more...but that's too much to ask from Bay.

More would've been better for HP...but that's too much to ask when you have only two movies left in a franchise...

Some of you are forgetting that the bad guys are building up their forces behind-the-scenes. No one is gunning for an all-out battle yet. In the meantime, the kids have a quiet year for once at school, though the movie elegantly handles the parallels between Harry and Draco.

It was nice seeing the kids find teenage love/lust. Don't you remember what it was like when you noticed how attractive other people could be?
