I just read the story about Phantasm 2 being released FINALLY here in the good ole USA in Spetember, and let me tell you I am PUMPED (yea I know who gives a shit right?) My opinion, number two was a great sequel to what I think was one of the most original horror movies ever. Think about the originality that the franchise brought to the world of horror. The metal sphere, dead bodies shrunk to be midget slaves for Satan and The Tall Man. The movie was creepy, dark and demented but very entertaining. I mean the acting in the first one wasn't really all that good but that leant to the noir of the movie. I remember after I saw number one, I never looked at a Ice Cream truck the same way. And then came the bigger budget for number 2 and it was everything that I expected. The acting even got better. I did pick this movie up at the Pittsburgh Toy Show last fall from a guy who sold boot leg copies (he said he had permission, yea right) But now I can finally pick the movie I had been searching for, thank you Universal.

Nothing wrong with getting excited about a movie.

It happens to me every once in a blue moon but I have to confess I've never heard of this Phantasm movie. :p

Falcon,

I take it that's a tease. But for those couple of folks who seriously don't know, between 1979 and 1998 director Don Corscarelli made four "Phantasm" films, all starring Angus Scrimm as "The Tall Man." The movies began to lose their originality and appeal as time wore on, but fans loved them, at least the first few. Corscarelli also gave us "The Beastmaster" and "Bubba Ho-tep," so he's a well-known director and writer.

Incidentally, Angus Scrimm, who must be in his late eighties by now, is still going strong in the low-budget horror scene. An amazing guy, considering he got his first big break in "Phantasm."

I too liked the franchise. I believe there is a PAL European box set of the 4. #1 is on Anchor Bay BD as I hope #2 will be. I would love to have all 4 in BD.

Bubba is one of my favorites. Elvis and JFK and The Mummy. Too funny!

Didn't Corscarelli make a couple of episodes of Masters of Horror? I'm outside now (with my new notebook pc) and I'm too lazy to go in and look. It's actually stopped raining in MA. At least for a while!

Of all the movies you guys mentioned I have only heard of the Masters of Horror movie(s) but I've never watched it. I was super freaked of horror movies when I was a kid cause I had the misfortune of watching the Exorcist. Of course I did also see the Jason movies, Freddie Kruger, Halloween and another scary one...Carrie!

Oh I forgot, Psycho was creepy too.
