Maybe it will be here just in time for ModernWarefare 2. Though at this point I have lost interest in having it as a second system. The video game world is focused on the Wii for children and for older teens and adults the 360.

Yes, right now the Playstation 3 seems to fall right between which makes it a no go for most gamers. Hardcore games (mostly FPS) continues to sell twice as much on XBOX 360 when released on both systems. When you like multiplayer that makes a difference.

All that said. At say $299 it would make a great system for the casual gamer that likes movies.

Why would you get it on PS3? Get it on 360 so you can play with others online.

Yeah guys, only 23million+ worldwide PS3 owners...why does Sony even bother

The issue steveo is how many of those 23 million ps3 owners are actually using their ps3s for gaming? Going by the latest npd numbers for the first half of 2009 and previous npd numbers for the last half of 2008 apparently not very much.

whoa...wait just a second. I HATE online gaming but still consider myself to be pretty hardcore sometimes. what category does that put me in? the ps3 serves all of my needs just fine because I am old school like that and likes to play with a buddy in the same room. I only wish that the STUDIOS would cater to geezers like me however it is a new world I guess. a new world of which we are losing touch with physical human connection. wanna text? twiiter this beyotch...etcetc.

Sorry Blade you aren't a hardcore gamer if the PS3 is your only choice. The 360 exclusives are hardcore gamer heaven. Its not even close just look at the sales numbers and number of online players.

edit: Not to mention Left for Dead the best game to play w/ a buddy in the same room.

I just had a thought. What if this 70% reduction in manufacturing costs is actually because of the ps3 slim? It would make sense. Since it is obviously going to be smaller than the present ps3 and it may also come without certain hardware features of previous versions this could lead to a big savings in manufacturing expenditure for each system produced.
