John Hughes, writer-director-producer, died today at the age of 59. Ferris gives a solemn final salute to the man who brought us so many memorable teen comedies.

I love those old John Hughes films, but I always think of "Dogma" where Jay and Silent Bob sit in a diner explaining their "John Hughes" travels to Bethany.

Quote:
Bethany: McHenry is pretty far from Jersey, might I ask what brings you guys to Illinois?

Jay: Some f**k named John Hughes.

Bethany: "16 Candles" John Hughes?

Jay: You know him too? That f***ing guy. Made this flick "16 Candles" right? Not bad it's got tits in it, but no bush. Of course Ebert (Silent Bob) over here don't give a sh*t about that stuff cause he's all in love with this John Hughes guy and rents every one of his movies. F***ing "Breakfast Club" all these stupid kids actually show up to detention, f***ing "Weird Science" where this one chick wants to take off her gear and get down, but aw, no she don't cause it's a PG movie, and then there's "Pretty In Pink" which I can't watch with this tubby muthaf***er any more, because everytime we get to the part where the red head hooks up with her dream guy, he starts sobbin' like a little eight-year-old with a skinned knee and sh*t. And nothing is worse then watching a fat man weep.

Funny stuff!
Too bad John had to go at such a young age. Wish we could have had him around longer.

R.I.P.

Being a child of the 80's I am truely saddened by the loss of John Hughes. He touched me as akid with his films and truely made the 80's a great decade to live through. He created the TEEN ANGST movie and they will always be imbedded in history. RIP Mr. Hughes and say high to John Candy for me.

John Hughes, when teen movies had heart and weren't.

A) a vehicle for Disney's Miley Cyrus/Jonas Brother/High School Musical stars.

B) a stupid gross out comedy were the actors are just there to setup the next disgusting gag.

Here's to you John for giving us characters we actually cared about. Now I think I'm going to watch the Breakfast Club, I'm sure it's playing on cable somewhere.
