just got back from watching district 9, wasn't what i was expecting, honestly it kinda reminded me of the tv show the office a little bit lol(with all the interviews) Wasnt a bad movie, it was different. Im not a huge fan of the Camcorder look on movies, seems to shaky. i think id give it 2.5 out 5 movie rating. id probably wouldnt wanna watch it again

Obviously, the shaky cam and documentary style worked, at least for me. We got to see the characters in "everyday" sort of moments, with their hair down, if you will. It's a different way of constructing a movie. That's all.

You're right, it's not the big bang action movie from start to finish. It's perfect sci fi because it has something to say and melds in the action portion.

I enjoyed this movie, and I thought it did a much better job with the "documentary style" as opposed to movies like Cloverfield. It was also a nice change of pace from the usual. Aliens show up and try to kill us premise.

My only issue with the "documentary style" is there are several moments in the movie where you have to wonder how they would be getting certain footage, if they were only following Wilkus around it seems pretty unlikely that we'd get footage from inside one of the Aliens Shack's when no other humans are there.
