I saw this movie last night and what a stupid movie it was. If I wasn't there with friends I would have walked out of the theatre after the first 20 minutes. At first I thought I was watching an Episode of "The Office". Then it just seemed like a video from FunnyorDie.com as if they were doing a parody or mocking documentaries or something. I think what killed this for me was the lead character. It almost seemed like Jim Carrey or Will Farrell doing one of their great character pieces.

I just could not take this movie seriously at all and I had zero concerns for anyone in this movie. The only thing that did get my attention was how gory (spelling?) things got when one of the alien weapons were used and even that became amusing after a while.

4/10 in my opinion.

I would have said more like Steve Carell, which made it all the more amusing to me, at least in the beginning. Toward the middle, the film turns from serious satire to serious sci-fi action, with an ending that was both appropriate and touching. No, I didn't think it was a great science-fiction film, but it was certainly a thoughtful and inventive one.

Now if only the theater had kept the audio level at something a little lower than the threshold of pain, maybe I wouldn't have left the place with a headache.
