yeah its 34 percent lighter, and uses 34 percent less power as well, i know the ps3 is a beast when it comes to power consumption. first week of sept, and at 299 thats really not a bad deali might unload my old ps3 and get this one since i want a bigger hd anyways

It will be interesting to see if it manages to pick up sales for Sony. Nevertheless, I'm sure Sony has their crock pot and books ready for a fine stew of BS.

Unless Sony offers a similar "Cash for Clunkers" program, for a discounted PS3 system... I'd rather use that $299 to buy TWO BLU RAY PLAYERS.

I hear ya... this PS3 news just seems to enforce my courage to buy a pair of blu ray players this holiday season. Heck, I could buy THREE for the price of a PS3.

It would be a great recessionary indicator if the new $299 sticker price, would lure monetary-cramped consumers, to buy a gaming machine w/ a blu-ray player accessory. Or a consumer enticed on buying a blu-ray player, w/ the extra feature of a gaming console.

Or the THIRD OPTION of the tylerdurden rule: Forget the PS3 altogether and buy yourself THREE BLU RAY PLAYERS for the same amount!

Choices, choices...
