We now have Tim Raynor's review up for the new Lionsgate film GAMER... (starring 300's Gerald Butler)

~ VIEW HERE

Tim says the film has some thrills, but is more like a rehash (some similarity) of 1987's The Running Man, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Tim...bud...

A 5 is MUCH too generous. Plot holes all over the place, things happening for no apparent reason, the handheld cam you mentioned...it's just an assault on every level with a very very flimsy plot.

Ya know, there IS a good story buried in there about society's addiction to the internet, gaming and the slow de-socializing of humanity. Some of the action is nice to look at...but Gamer is just stupid.

(Try to find Carriers...MUCH better and really good.)

Oh, I agree, it is a waste of time for the theater dollar. I can see it as standard cable material one might waste a couple of hours on in an afternoon, but really no more than that. I did like some of the play on the technology, as that kind of science does interest me. Even though it was stealing Running Man right-and-left, I did see a thoughtful story in there, it's just that it was so poorly delivered and a complete mess. Not to mention how damn silly and odd it was at times.

I think the other reason it rates a 5 for me is I'm concerned I might get attacked by Wolvinator. You know how Wolvie likes to attack me for not taking a liking to meaningless, popcorn garbage.

Yeah, Jason, I read your review on "Carriers". I'll have to go check it out this week. It does sound interesting and entertaining enough. Thanks.

Which part was silly? Michael C. Hall doing the little Broadway number? The fat slob playing Society? The ease with which people seem to come and go from both games?

Maybe we should stop so we don't ruin it for anyone.

Probably true, but most of our message board peeps are deep into beer or a bottle of Jack Daniels by now, so it won't make a difference.
